A one-woman show – spoken word/dance/video/story/song
Denaise Seals shows up early, gets the videography job done on time, and superbly, but it’s more than that. Her presence in the rehearsal room or theater space enhances the show and inspires performers and crew to bring their best. She expects excellence from herself, and brings seasoned experience and creative ideas to make that happen. From the first contact of the Slingshot Video questionnaire about my performance, to the final credits rendered so tastefully on the completed video, I felt investment like never before from this skilled craftsperson. I highly recommend collaborating with Ms. Seals.

Study #4: Light, Affect, Sound
How do you hear light?
I was enlisted into the Bureau of Sensory Affairs in May 2024. My mission: video documentation of Study #4: Light, Affect, Sound
BSA co-chairs Alma Laprida and Nate Scheible are amazing. They invited nine musicians and their instruments to “translate” different sensations of light into sound.
Study #4 results were presented at SOUND SCENE 2024: SOLSTICE at the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden June 22 & 23rd
Celebrating the Success of the 4 X 4 = 16 Lecture Series
Congratulations to AIA|DC Design Excellence founder, Francesca Franchi, and her extraordinary team on the successful completion of their year-long, international “4 X 4 = 16” Lecture Series. This remarkable initiative featured four countries, in four series, showcasing a total of sixteen visionary South American women architects. The series was graciously hosted by the Embassy of Brazil.
As part of this project, my role involved compiling and editing globally amassed digital data to highlight the innovative work of these South American women architects. This 4-part series focused on radically creative community building and design, bringing to light the unique contributions of these talented professionals.
I was honored to be invited by Francesca to attend the fourth edition of our 4x4 series, which featured four accomplished architects from Brazil. The event, graciously hosted by the Embassy of Brazil (@brazilinusa), began with a screening of the latest film by @architecture_hunter, followed by a delightful cocktail reception at the historic Ambassador’s Residence. The evening was further enriched by a Q&A session led by Ambassador Maria Luiza Viotti, Brazil’s first female ambassador to the United States.
This project not only celebrated the achievements of South American women architects but also fostered a global dialogue on innovative design and community building. It was a privilege to be part of such an inspiring and impactful series.

Denaise Seals: videographer | media arts educator | spread the knowledge, spread the power
Producing art requires both finely honed technical skills
and a sense of wonder..
Creativity is a balance of urgency and play.
…Her videos of my work have been terrific. She is very accommodating to our needs and great videoing both site work and proscenium stage choreography. Denaise is terrific with a “hand held” camera, getting right in among the dancers so the viewer feels he/she is part of the action. She is quite organized at storing my work and if I need a particular clip for a grant or proposal Denaise always delivers on time! I always look forward to seeing Denaise’s bright smiling persona at my performances. She’s the best!
